Summer Trains Leading Nowhere
Directed by: Andrew van der Ven
Written by: Andrew van der Ven
Summer trains leading nowhere is a modern city symphony about a place that has not been visited, a moment that has not taken place, a life that has not been lived.
Our protagonist is the city, our villain is the deranged head of the observer through whose eyes we look. He travels great distances in search of peace but returns to the same point again and again. Summer Trains Leading Nowhere is a poetic documentary, shot right before the pandemic, on several locations in the Netherlands. It is a film about lingering mental illness, attempts to “travel” it, and the failure that always follows.
Summer Trains Leading Nowhere has been released in 2021.
