Senja is the Indonesian word for dusk, sunset. The moment when the day transforms into night. Senja is a documentary film about the Indonesian community in the Netherlands. 70 years ago, the first families came from the former Dutch East Indies to the cold Netherlands. The community has rapidly integrated.

Countless Dutch people with an Indonesian background are now active in politics, business and many other facets of our society. In this documentary film, we look for those Dutch people with a “hidden” Indonesian background.
